Moin,
I’m Justus Waterman, a UX/UI designer with a strong background in digital media design and solid programming skills. After graduating in Industrial Design at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, I joined ISCOPE as a UX/UI Designer.
There, I design user interfaces that prioritize clarity, consistency, and usability — always driven by data, user feedback, and a clean visual language.
My portfolio features more than just UX/UI projects — it’s a collection that reflects my creative journey and the design techniques that have fueled my growth. Each project is labeled so you can easily explore each one, and they deserve to be showcased rather than gathering dust in a drawer.
My Path: Advertising, Coding & Designing User Experiences
My journey in design and digital media began at diedrei!, where I was introduced to the fast-paced world of advertising. Early on, I developed a strong foundation in creating compelling visuals and campaigns, but soon my curiosity led me deeper into programming. Over time, I expanded my skill set to include front-end development, building my own interactive solutions and bridging the gap between design and code.
Following this formative experience, I spent several years at Weitkamp Marketing, where I took on a wide range of responsibilities. I managed numerous website projects from start to finish, ensuring that every digital touchpoint aligned with the brand’s vision and goals. Alongside digital work, I also designed various print materials, which sharpened my eye for detail and versatility across media.
Currently, I’m bringing all of these skills together at ISCOPE, where I focus on delivering comprehensive UX/UI design solutions. My work spans from crafting intuitive websites and user interfaces to designing engaging e-commerce shops and video platforms. Beyond digital design, I’m also involved in brand development projects, helping shape identities that resonate with users on multiple levels.
Due to the sheer volume and sometimes confidential nature of these projects, I cannot showcase all of them here. Instead, I’ve selected and highlighted the most important ones to give you a clear insight into my skills and experience.
Thriving on Complexity: My Love for Prototyping
Prototyping is a crucial step in the UX/UI design process, bridging the gap between initial concepts and final development. I specialize in creating complex prototypes that accurately reflect even the most intricate user flows and interactions, ensuring a seamless and realistic user experience. Variables and dependencies are never an obstacle for me — rather, they present an exciting challenge that I tackle with technical expertise and creative problem-solving.
While I prefer working with Figma due to its modern and flexible platform that supports efficient and detailed prototyping, I also bring years of experience using Adobe XD. This dual expertise allows me to craft tailor-made solutions that effectively connect user guidance with visually appealing designs. By leveraging these tools, I can bring ideas to life and create prototypes that not only look great but also function intuitively and reliably.

Framework-Driven Development for Flexible Backends and Dynamic GUIs
In my recent projects, I have worked extensively with frameworks to develop both custom backends and graphical user interfaces. One key technology I leveraged was Tailwind CSS, a highly flexible and utility-first CSS framework that is also used by industry giants like Netflix, Google, and apps such as Trade Republic. Its modular approach allowed me to build visually consistent and responsive interfaces efficiently.
Among the projects I contributed to were a Headless CMS, designed to decouple content management from the presentation layer, and an application for measuring goods in the food industry, where usability and reliability were paramount. Additionally, I developed a custom backend for managing print orders in a print shop (DFT Druck), focusing on efficient order processing, status tracking, and integration with existing production workflows. These experiences demonstrated to me how frameworks can significantly streamline the development process, offering a robust foundation and reducing repetitive tasks.
However, while frameworks can greatly enhance productivity, I believe they should be used consciously and strategically. It’s important not to deviate too far from their core principles—striking a balance between leveraging their strengths and integrating a unique design language that makes the product stand out. For example, I used Figma to design complex “if-this-then-that” logic for dynamic forms, ensuring that even advanced features were seamlessly integrated into the user experience.
